ORIENTATION
Krakow’s old town area is very compact.
Almost all you need is at hand. It is about 800 m wide and 1200m long. In the center there is the vast area of the main market square ( rynek glowny) 200 X 200 m – the biggest medieval market square in Europe. The Old town is surrounded by the green area of the ‘PLANTY’ park , which was once a moat and should be avoided after dark.
BUSES AND TRAMS
There are numerous tram and bus lines covering the city area. Using them is very easy. Once you go on board you have to punch your ticket. You can get them all across the city. Small kiosks, newspaper stands and some shops all have tickets for sale. Regular one is 2,50 zloty. You can also get a 1 hour ticket – valid for one hour, on all lines, from the time printed on the reverse side of your ticket by the punching machine.
